Buckeye Elementary School District is thrilled to announce that two district teachers have been selected as semi-finalists for EL Teacher of the Year through the Office of English Language Acquisition Services.

They were both nominated because of the exceptional work they do in educating their students as they work to acquire the English language.

Katherine Hernandez is a kindergarten teacher at Buckeye Elementary.  She has been an enthusiastic member of the Buckeye Elementary community for 11 years.  She works diligently supporting her students, families and fellow educators.

Teresa Gollihare is a kindergarten teacher at Sundance Elementary.  She has been a valued member of the Buckeye education community for 15 years; 11 of those years teaching at Sundance Elementary.  Teresa is a beloved kindergarten teacher who supports her students from their first year at Sundance through their promotion to High School.

Finalists for this honor will be announced in November.

The EL Teacher of the Year will be named during the awards banquet at the OELAS conference in December.
