The Governing Boards for both the Antelope Union and Yuma Union High School Districts approved their appointees to the Yuma Joint Technical Education District (JTED) Governing Board at board meetings held Monday evening in Wellton and Yuma.  Yuma County Superintendent of Schools, Tom Tyree, also announced his at-large board appointee.

Antelope Union Appointees:  Noe Duarte, Pat Koury

Yuma Union Appointees:  Nicolle Griffin, Tom Kiley

At-large Appointee:  Roger Nelson

The newly appointed JTED Board will assume their duties after being sworn in the first week in January. At that time, work will begin to make the JTED operational.

On November 4, 2014, voters approved the creation of the Yuma Joint Technical Education District for Yuma County.  The action taken by the Antelope and Yuma boards was the next step in the creation of the district.  As per the Yuma JTED Plan and as approved by the Arizona State Board of Education, Antelope Union High School District and Yuma Union High School District Governing Boards are responsible for appointing two members each.  The Yuma County Superintendent of Schools is responsible for appointing the fifth at-large member.

The process for appointment included filing a Letter of Interest with the Yuma County Superintendent’s office, successfully participating in an interview process, and being recommended by the Yuma County School Superintendent, as outlined in the Yuma JTED Plan.  Twenty-three letters of interest were submitted by community members in the Yuma Union High School District and four letters of interest from Antelope Union community members.
