It’s officially back to school season! That means parents are out in droves shopping for their children’s school supplies.
However, parents aren’t the only ones shelling out for paper, pencils, binders and more. According to a report from Scholastic, teachers spend an average of $530 of their own money each year on classroom supplies like notebooks, pencils, tissue, snacks and bulletin board decorations.
To help ease the burden on a number of these teachers, APS recently launched Supply My Class, APS’s Teacher Awards promotion in which K-8 teachers at schools in APS service territory can enter for a chance to win a $500 Visa gift card to be used for school supplies.
One hundred fifty teachers will be randomly selected as award winners each Friday through August 31.
Since the program kicked off on July 16, about 600 teachers from across Arizona have received or been notified of their award.
By the conclusion of the program, 1,000 teachers will have been awarded a $500 gift card to directly support their efforts in the classroom!
Eligible teachers may enter the awards program online at supplymyclass.com until 11:59 p.m. (Arizona time) on Thursday, August 30, with the final selections being made on August 31.
