Tim Walz, the governor of Minnesota, has been selected by Democratic candidate for U.S. presidency Kamala Harris as her running mate for 2024. CNN reported this on Tuesday, citing four people who are aware with the decision.
According to those familiar with the search, Vice President Kamala Harris became more at ease with Minnesota Governor Tim Walz during the last few days of the nomination process. This allowed the blunt former congressman, educator, and Army National Guard commander to join the Democratic ticket and assist in spearheading the party’s campaign against Donald Trump.
Following her conversation with Walz, Harris will make an official announcement that will be sent to supporters today.
He was met by a small group from the Harris campaign near the governor’s palace in Minnesota, and they flew together to Philadelphia, where he will join Harris for their first campaign rally this evening.
Four sources close to the process have revealed that Vice President Kamala Harris has selected Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota as her running mate.
Walz, a former teacher, is the governor of Minnesota for the second time and serves as the chair of the Democratic Governors Association. He previously served 12 years in Congress, covering a rural district with a conservative bent that was predominately Republican both before and during his term.
