Ledyard driver charged with DUI, carrying gun while intoxicated in fatal Lisbon pedestrian crash

A Ledyard man is being held on multiple charges following a fatal strike of a pedestrian on Route 12 late Monday night, state police said.

William C. Stonier, 36, of Meeting House Lane was arrested at the scene, charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and carrying a firearm while intoxicated. 

According to police, the accident occurred about 10:28 p.m. when Stonier’s Dodge Ram pickup truck left the road, striking a pedestrian before crashing into a guardrail and utility pole.

The crime was committed at the area of Route 12, and the victim is yet to be identified. Stonier was released on promise to appear before Norwich Superior Court, November 13. More charges are expected in the process of further investigation.

Details about the accident are still being collected by police. Further developments are expected as the case unfolds.
