A fatal crash was reported in north Phoenix early Wednesday morning, after a man riding a scooter was killed. The accident occurred about 2 a.m. near Cave Creek Road and Cheryl Drive, police said.
Police said the man was riding the scooter when a vehicle struck him. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim has not been released.
The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and was cooperating with the authorities. Although police say they have yet to rule it out, possibilities for speed or impairment in the crash aren’t ruled out during the investigation.
Cave Creek Road is shut both ways near 13th Street and Holiday Parkway. Northbound is open, while southbound remains closed as the investigation continues.
