Kyrene School District’s annual winter events are moving online, in response to the recent surge of COVID-19.
January and February represent the formal start of the enrollment and hiring seasons, as the District prepares for the 2021-22 school year.
Winter months also see important events for students, such as the District and Regional Spelling Bees.
The following headline events are among the activities that will continue, despite the challenges presented this year, as Kyrene seeks to give students the fullest educational experience possible and to provide families and staff with everything they need to prepare for 2021-22.
School Showcase Nights
Annual Showcase Nights hosted by every Kyrene school, to share choice opportunities with families and support enrollment for the following school year. The events began Jan. 11, 2021 and continue through mid-February. The dates, times and Zoom links are available online.
Certified Career Fairs
Kyrene’s January and February job fairs for teachers are highly competitive. An appointment is required to secure an interview. Though virtual interview slots for January are full, the deadline to apply for a February virtual interview is February 5.
District Spelling Bee
The annual Kyrene District Spelling Bee will be a virtual event, with the help of an online testing platform developed by the Scripps National Spelling Bee organization. Students who placed at their school Bees will have 24 hours to complete the online test, from January 20 to January 21. Winners will be announced on January 22. Though the Kyrene Spelling Bee is not a spectator event this year, Kyrene School District hopes to welcome families back next year, in person.
