Update on fiscal year 2022 Classroom Site Fund estimate

Legislative staff will provide the official estimate for the Fiscal Year 2022 Classroom Site Fund at the end of March.

However, since Arizona Association of School Business Officials had a few questions on this topic we will share some information that is currently available.

The Classroom Site Fund amount for this year was $425 per weighted student which included a one time $40 per weighted student amount that was provided and was intended to be used as part of the last year of the Governor’s 20X2020 plan to provide teachers with a 20% salary increase.

For this next year – Fiscal Year 2022 – this additional funding will be moved into the Base Level and will provide an extra increase in the FY 2022 Base Level of $32.82 over and above the regular inflation increase.

At this point in time the outlook for funding for the FY 2022 Classroom Site Fund appears to be very positive. The possible carryover, growth funding in sales tax and increased permanent endowment earnings all appear to be pointing in the right direction.

Since we do not have the data to provide an accurate number we will have to wait for the Joint Legislative Budget Committee staff to do the official estimate in March.
