The Paradise Valley Unified School District’s Gifted Education Department and the United Parent Council will host several Gifted Education Parent Seminars for the 2016-17 school year.

The first seminar, They Say My Child is Gifted… How Does This Impact His/Her Education in PVSchools? will be held from 12-1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31st in the Critical Thinking Room at the Community Resource Center.
They say my child is gifted. How does this impact his education? Screen-Shot-2016-08-18-at-9.37.02-AM-300x199Dr. Dina Brulles, director of Gifted Education, will provide an overview of the curriculum of gifted services that are available for preschool through high school students in PVSchools.

Parents attending will gain insights into the continuum of services offered in the district to determine which is the best fit for their child’s distinctive learning needs.

In addition to describing the gifted services offered, Dr. Brulles will discuss academic needs such as when to provide acceleration, how teachers differentiate curriculum and instruction, and how they incorporate depth and complexity into lessons.

Dr. Brulles will also describe the professional development offered to teachers to best meet the needs of our high ability students.

The event is free and parents of gifted children are encouraged to attend.

The next Gifted Seminar – When is Acceleration the Best Decision will be held on Wednesday, September 28th from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Governing Board Room at the District Administrative Center.
