Poston Butte High School baseball team receives ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award

Poston Butte High School Baseball program was selected yesterday as a recipient of the ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award.

This recognition was awarded to 143 high school programs nationally.  The Poston Butte High School Baseball team was one of the only 7 high school programs in the state of Arizona. 

The 2020 Broncos varsity baseball team had a cumulative GPA of 3.66 with 7 individual student athletes earning a 4.0 GPA or better. 

They can play baseball also, ranked #3 in AZ in the 4A division prior to the Covid shutdown.  An altogether great 2020 for Poston Butte Baseball!

“I am proud of the accomplishments of these fine young athletes,” said Chris Knutsen, superintendent of Florence Unified School District.

“This team exemplifies the characteristics of hard work, determination and commitment,” Knutsen said. “They understand the value of playing sports and being successful academically and how it can help develop values and habits that will stay with you throughout your lifetime.  Congratulations from your FUSD family and always remain #BRONCOSTRONG!”
