Sixty elementary school students received a perfect score on the annual Arizona Academic Standards Assessment, nearly doubling the results from the year prior.
Third through eighth grade students excelled with a 100% on the statewide achievement test, which is proctored in April of each year. Several students have earned this recognition multiple years in a row and one student earned 100% achievement in both ELA and math for two consecutive years.
Students, along with their families, were celebrated at the district’s governing board meeting on September 20, 2022.
“We are incredibly proud of our students as they have worked to earn 100% on the state assessments. It is phenomenal to hear the strategies used by our students and their suggestions to others to have the same success. Ideas such as ‘keep trying and don’t give up’, ‘read and reread to ensure the answer is correct’, ‘check, double and triple check your work”’, ‘participate in class and listen to the instructions’ were among the powerful actions shared among our students. Celebrating and sharing these successes promotes confidence in others to achieve,” says AESD Superintendent, Dr. Betsy Hargrove.
The district of choice has been a leader in public education in recent years for their strategies in achieving excellence with programs like Project Momentum, Leader in Me and specialized schools in Avondale and Goodyear.
