Fireside Elementary first grade students, along with mentors from Paradise Valley High School, show off their programming skills and how they are learning to make their own apps in this must-see video featured on Channel 8’s Arizona Horizon with host Ted Simons.

The video shows teacher Karen Mensing’s class as they work with Paradise Valley High School student tutors on creating a calculator app.

“The children are very, very natural with technology, which is fantastic,” Mensing said. “The younger ones are a clean slate. I put something in front of them and they master it quickly.”
