Theodore “Teddy” Canevett was named the 2014 Youth of the Year by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Phoenix Warner A. Gabel Branch.
Teddy was honored at the “Today’s Kids, Tomorrow’s Stars” event, February 15.
Teddy was the valedictorian of his 8th grade class, and has been in the North International Baccalaureate program, and is a member of the French and Chess clubs on campus.
In 2013, he received the Taco Bell Scholarship award for his classroom excellence and record of community service.
Teddy is the president of the Keystone leadership club at the Boys and Girls Club, where he has initiated a number of local projects, including neighborhood clean-ups, food drives and fundraising for the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
He plans to attend a four-year university, having applied to Northern Arizona and he would like to attend veterinary school following his undergraduate work.
Teddy joined 11 other branch Youths of the Year for a 16-week “Journey” covering value clarification, team building, releationship and leadership development, personal presentation and Toastmasters training.
