Kyrene Elementary School Students Join Nationwide Walk to End Racism & Bullying

Kyrene de las Brisas students and staff participated in a school-wide walk to Desert Breeze Park in Chandler, in observance of Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day.

Hundreds of students from all grade levels at Kyrene de las Brisas Elementary School participated in Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day. Kyrene de las Brisas is one of the first schools in Arizona to join schools across the country in the annual event to fight racism and bullying.

The walk is inspired by six-year-old Ruby Bridges, who integrated William Frantz Elementary School in New Orleans in 1960. The Ruby Bridges Foundation created the event to inspire students to continue the dialogue to end racism and unify their communities, as well as to commemorate Ruby’s historic walk to school. Ruby’s story

It was a highly visual event, and photographers were encouraged to walk along with students and staff!
