Improving Advanced Placement access and opportunity

  • Kim Mesquita/ Glendale Union High School District

Increasing the number of students from diverse backgrounds who enroll and succeed in Advanced Placement classes and other rigorous courses is one of our greatest equity challenges.

Glendale Union High School District in Arizona was selected as a 2013 National Advanced Placement District of the Year for successfully meeting this challenge.

The Region IX Equity Assistance Center at WestEd will host an Advanced Placement Equity Exchange at Moon Valley High School in Glendale.

Administrators and teachers participating in the Equity Exchange will observe classrooms and learn from their peers in Glendale on how to increase enrollment and success in Advanced Placement programs.

The Advanced Placement Equity Exchange will be held Tuesday, April 29, 8 am until 4 pm at Moon Valley High School, 3625 W. Cactus Road, Glendale, AZ.

This professional development session is free with advanced registration.

To register or for more information, please contact Kim Mesquita, at or 623-435-6001. Download the informational flyer.
