This week, the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) is celebrating the work of teachers. National Teacher Appreciation Day is Tuesday, May 6, 2014 and throughout the week, Superintendent of Public Instruction John Huppenthal will be reaching out to Arizona’s outstanding teachers to say thank you.
He is also asking all Arizonans to thank one of the state’s 80,000 certified teachers.
“Teachers are the backbone of the American dream. We task them with molding and guiding our most valued treasure…our children,” stated Superintendent Huppenthal. “There is no greater calling than those who dedicate their life to leading, inspiring and teaching our future generation. It was a public school teacher who changed my life and I will always be thankful for his influence.”
The Arizona Department of Education will be thanking future teachers and those visiting the Certification Division all week with thank you notes and apples. Several other events are taking place and open to the media for coverage. (Please contact Jennifer Liewer if you plan to cover any of the events.)
