Buckeye ESD Participates in Nationwide Conversation with U.S. Deputy Secretary

Buckeye Elementary School District represented the state of Arizona in a national conversation alongside the U.S. Deputy Secretary of Education, Cindy Marten. Dr. Kristi Wilson, BESD Superintendent, participated in the “Rise the Bar: Lead the World” to share the successes the district has implemented in recent years.

The discussion between the educational leaders of the state is aimed to find “ways schools can promote academic excellence and prepare for global competitiveness.”

In the meeting, Buckeye Elementary School District shared the impact their Project Momentum has had in raising test scores and tremendously improving letter grades in the last year. In addition to sharing the innovative approaches to curriculum that has gained interests at a worldwide level at their newest campus, John S. McCain III Elementary School.

Buckeye ESD was one of two districts that the U.S. Deputy Secretary of Education selected to sit with and discuss the new initiative. 

“It was an honor to represent Arizona in this national conversation and to share the innovative practices that have led to such great success in BESD.  I am always excited to engage with leaders who are interested in promoting excellence for all students, regardless of zip code, and to share concrete steps that we can all take to best prepare students for an unknown future,” said Dr. Kristi Wilson, BESD Superintendent.
