For the fourth consecutive year, Benson Public Library and McDonald’s are teaming up to encourage children to read this summer! Sign up for the Benson Public Library Summer Reading Program and receive a free Happy Meal bookmark coupon. The Summer Reading Program fosters love of reading and motivates students to stay academically sharp for the next school year. “Summer Reading Programs are the best known way to prevent the so-called “Summer Slide,” said Kelli Jeter, Benson library administrator. “Research has consistently shown that kids who read are more successful not only in school, but later in life as well. Libraries play a big role in keeping children reading and inquisitive during summer months.”
