The 2013 edition of Education at a Glance offers a snapshot of how people who participate in and benefit from education, fared during the worst economic crisis seen in decades. The crisis in unemployment, particularly among young people, started early and then intensified in most Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development countries, including the United States, hitting adults with low levels of education the hardest. Although the growth rate of tertiary attainment in the United States is slower than many other OECD countries, the United States still has among the largest proportions of tertiary-educated adults in the world.
