Arizona State Spelling Bee postponed indefinately

UPDATE March 20, 2020: We learned this morning that Scripps has canceled the National Spelling Bee. No word yet on if it will be rescheduled or when. Once we know their plans, we will figure out how to proceed on a state level. We had great intentions of rescheduling the state Bee for May 17, but unfortunately that date will now need to be canceled until we have further word from Scripps.
The Arizona State Spelling originally scheduled for March 21 has been rescheduled for Sunday, May 17th.
It is with a heavy heart that the Arizona Educational Foundation announces the postponement of the Arizona State Spelling Bee.
We have closely been monitoring and evaluating the situation around COVID-19 to ensure we are taking the necessary measures to protect the health and well-being of students and their families.
As a result, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the Arizona State Spelling Bee originally scheduled for March 21st, 2020.
Thank you for your understanding as we implement safety precautions in response to COVID-19.
