Authorities say a Somerset couple was arrested after an investigation into allegations of child abuse, with the alleged victim being a 2-year-old in their care.
The investigation began on Oct. 19, when the Department of Community Based Services received a complaint of potential abuse. Detectives found evidence that showed Alexander Pence and his wife, Tracy Pence, both 34, allegedly struck the toddler in the face and head multiple times while caring for the child.
Both Alexander and Tracy Pence are charged with first-degree criminal abuse of a child 12 years old or younger. Both are being held in the Pulaski County Detention Center, each on a $100,000 cash bond.
