Phoenix police and hazardous materials crews are working on identifying an unknown substance that was discovered this morning at the Dignity Health facility in Ahwatukee. The area is near 44th Street and Chandler Boulevard; emergency teams responded promptly.
The Phoenix Fire Department stated that so far, there is no report of any injury and no threat to the public, but as a precautionary measure, the area has been cordoned off. Meanwhile, Chandler Boulevard has been temporarily closed between 44th and 36th streets while crews determine what this substance is.
The officials will continue their work on their investigation, and if more information keeps coming in, then updates will be available.
