A man was shot by police and taken to the hospital inside the emergency room at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown early on Oct. 19. Authorities responded around 5 a.m. after receiving multiple reports of an armed individual in the hospital’s emergency department on North Dixie Avenue.
Elizabethtown Police Department Officer Chris Denham confirmed that the suspect was shot after he faced a confrontation with a responding officer. After the incident, the man was airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital for treatment.
No injuries have been reported besides the shooting, and the situation remains under investigation. Additional details will come when they are available.
