Man charged for fatal accident early Friday morning at 4th and Commerce

John Williams was charged with serious crimes, including vehicular homicide by intoxication, after a fatal accident early yesterday morning in the downtown area. One person was killed and three others injured when Williams allegedly struck four pedestrians while driving under the influence at the intersection of 4th Avenue North and Commerce Street.

In an attack that reportedly saw him driving drunk on a sidewalk and hitting a group of pedestrians, all victims were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. One was later pronounced dead, and the other three are reportedly undergoing treatment for injuries.

Besides the charge of vehicular homicide, Williams faces three counts of reckless endangerment and three counts of vehicular assault. His bond is set at $105,000 as this investigation continues into this fatal crash.
