Two people charged in West Hartford center shooting Sunday

Two 31-year-olds, from East Hartford, have been arrested in relation to a shooting that took place in West Hartford early Sunday morning, police said.

The shooting occurred near Farmington Avenue and Lasalle Road, and was discovered at 1:44 a.m. by patrol officers in the area, according to a press release issued by the West Hartford Police Department.

Charges against Louis Declaybrook include unlawful discharge of a firearm, first-degree criminal attempt to assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, and interfering with an officer. Yarisa Mendez has been charged with interfering with an officer, police said. 

Officers secured the scene shortly after the incident and found evidence of gunfire, though no victim was located. Police said they were able to identify the shooter through further investigation as Louis Declaybrook.

Declaybrook is being held on $250,000 bail and is due to appear in Hartford Superior Court on November 19. His case is still under investigation.
