On November 15, 2022, Donald Trump, the 45th president of the United States from 2017 to 2021, declared his candidacy for a nonconsecutive second term in office during the 2024 presidential election. At the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on July 15, 2024, he was formally nominated.

On July 18, 2024, he accepted the GOP’s nomination for president of the United States, and JD Vance, a junior U.S. senator from Ohio, was named as the convention’s vice presidential nominee and campaign partner. Should Trump be elected, he will be the oldest president in American history and the second, after Grover Cleveland, to hold the position for two terms without a break.

He is a businessman who has lied about his fortune, a philanderer, a conspirator, and a convicted felon. He believes that immigrants are “spoiling” America from the inside out and that it has been too forgiving of democratic partners and too harsh of authoritarian adversaries. And there’s no doubt that Donald Trump will prevail in November’s US presidential election.
