A man shot and killed by Phoenix police late Monday is accused of drawing a gun on officers following a chase, according to a statement from the Phoenix Police Department.
The incident began around 10 p.m. at a neighborhood southeast of 19th Avenue and Broadway Road, where officers responded to the 911 call that the man was armed and trying to break into a house. Upon arrival, officers saw him leaving the scene in a pickup truck and chased him in pursuit.
The chase ended as the suspect crashed his automobile into a brick wall, and the man ran towards a home on foot. As the officers approached the suspect in a driveway, he was said to have pointed the gun at them. Responding with gunfire, police killed the man. EMS workers said the man was dead where he was found.
Later, police also recovered two handguns and a rifle from the truck taken by the suspected man. These are the identities of an unknown suspect and also not of the injured officers whose identities are still unknown.
However, the authorities have completely terminated the search for more suspected men
The case currently remains under an investigation by Phoenix Police. Any further information issued will only be found there.
