A 16-year-old Avondale girl who went missing over the weekend was found safe in Utah, authorities said. The Avondale Police Department confirmed early Monday morning that the teenager, who is believed to have left the state with a 29-year-old man, was found, ending a multi-state search.
The family says she was last spotted about 1 a.m. Sunday at her parents’ home near Avondale Boulevard and Buckeye Road. She was reportedly missing when her family sought the police five hours after the sighting.
The authorities suspect that she had probably willingly gone away and had met with Isaac Martin, aged 29 years, to whom the police refer to as a “possible boyfriend.” According to evidence and results obtained, police claim probable cause for the arrest on the charge of kidnapping him.
Even the family members sent this to the law, saying that in the early hours of Sunday morning, a note came from the teen. It indicated they were traveling along the Arizona New Mexico border, due to which, this eventually led to the officers able to narrow the search scope.
Martin is being held in jail pending kidnapping charges, and preparations are being made to send the teenager back to her family in Arizona. Avondale Police Department officers are grateful for the help of the state’s law enforcement agencies and the people in bringing the teenager back home safely.
