A youth was shot late Thursday night in the Okolona neighborhood, and a juvenile is dead, Louisville Metro Police Department spokesman Dwight Mitchell confirmed early Friday morning.
LMPD’s 6th Division officers were dispatched to Norton Audubon Hospital around 11:30 p.m. after a victim with a gunshot wound was brought into the hospital. The victim was not brought in by ambulance.
Police discovered, as a result of investigation, that the shooting took place close to the area of Preston Highway and Outer Loop within minutes of when the minor victim came in to the hospital. He died from his wounds shortly after.
The LMPD Homicide Unit is investigating the case; at this time, no suspect has been identified. It urges anyone with information to call the police on its anonymous tip line at 502-574-LMPD (5673) or submit a tip on the LMPD Crime Tip Portal.
