Louisville man sentenced to decades in prison for 2021 murder in Russell neighborhood

Kenyatta James, a Louisville man, was sentenced on Thursday to 40 years in prison for the murder of Stephon Monroe on February 5, 2021, inside the Russell neighborhood.

There was a reported argument between James and Monroe via telephone regarding Monroe’s relationship with James’ daughter. He then went to Monroe’s house and shot him multiple times.

Months later, James was arrested at his home on Rockford Lane. Police arrive at Monroe’s shortly after the shooting to declare Monroe dead at the scene.

James has now received a 40-year prison sentence for his actions, as he was convicted of the murder.
