Kentucky State Police are investigating an early morning fire Friday on Christy Creek Road, which claimed a local’s life. Emergency crews were dispatched to the report of a mobile home fire in this rural area.
From the Morehead Fire Department, it took them barely some time in which they could quench the flames that had also been responsible for much damage to the mobile home. Upon putting out the flames, firefighters found the body of 62-year-old Stanley Erwin inside the burnt remains of the home.
Rowan County Coroner John Northcutt said he made it to the scene and pronounced Erwin dead. Northcutt said Erwin’s wife and another family member were at the residence when the fire started, but they were able to escape unharmed.
Northcutt reported that besides the mobile home, a camper on the property was involved also in the incident. People inside the camper were unhurt, he said.
So far, there is no cause for the fire. Kentucky State Police are still working with fire investigators to find out what led up to the tragic blaze.
The local authorities have yet to announce the extra details, but the investigation is still very active. The fire department is appealing for the community to be more careful concerning the fire safety area, especially as it is getting colder and the heating devices are causing some house fires.
Stanley Erwin’s death stands as a strong reminder of preparedness on fire, and as time progresses, the investigators will continue to investigate deeper into the matter, bringing out more details to the case.
