Gilbert woman missing after flash flooding hit Grand Canyon

A woman from the East Valley is said to be missing in the Grand Canyon, and search parties are looking for her. According to the National Park Service, on August 22, flash flooding caused 33-year-old Chenoa Nickerson to be washed into Havasu Creek.

According to authorities, Nickerson washed into the creek 0.5 miles above the Colorado River confluence without a life jacket on.
