The Georgetown Police Department apprehended and filed charges against one person over the weekend after discovering a suspicious character roaming the grounds of Southern Elementary School.
Police said the incident involved the retrieval of stolen firearms and illegal substances; however, such incidents reportedly happen outside school hours.
According to a photo release from the department, two weapons and a quantity of marijuana were taken as part of his arrest. Authorities said that the weapons have been reported stolen and were recovered at the scene.
Charges against him:
- Possession of a handgun by a convicted felon,
- Unlawful possession of weapon on school property,
- Receiving stolen property (firearm),
- Limited ammunition at the time of a felony,
- Sale or manufacture of marijuana,
- Sale or manufacture of controlled substance near a school,
- Public intoxication on property open to the public
This arrest reflects that the department is still at work in keeping the public safe and schools safe. All other information relating to the arrest was not released.
