A powerful thunderstorm that is sweeping across Arizona made landfall in the Valley on Tuesday night. On Tuesday, the southwestern regions of Arizona, including Phoenix and Casa Grande, were under a Blowing Dust Advisory issued by the National Weather Service. Maricopa County was further given a Severe Thunderstorm Warning.

“An outflow boundary with wind gusts of 35–45 mph is moving into SW portions of the Phoenix Metro,” the NWS reported at 7:30 p.m. There are patches of flying dust due to this outflow, and visibility down to three miles is occasionally possible. Additionally, clouds and showers are building behind this border.”

In terms of weather, Tuesday’s high was 111°F, while Wednesday and Thursday could see a high of 106°F. After that, temperatures are predicted to rise once more, peaking at 110°F on Friday and 113°F on Saturday.

NWS Phoenix posted on X, “7:28 PM: An outflow boundary with wind gusts of 35–45 mph is moving into SW portions of the Phoenix Metro. This outflow is causing areas of blowing dust with visibilities below 3 miles at times. Showers and storms are also forming behind this boundary. “
