What should I do?
1. Avoid Typing Errors
Double-check your username and password. Did autocorrect mess things up for you? Also passwords, don’t forget they have a shelf life – 18 months to be exact. If it has been a while, head to the “Edit My FSA ID” tab to choose a new, secure password.
2. Forgot Login Details?
No worries!
Just click “Forgot My Username” or “Forgot My Password” on the “Edit My FSA ID” tab. The website will send you an email to reset your details.
Still not working? Check for mismatched Social Security numbers! If the numbers on your FAFSA and FSA ID don’t match, you will be stuck and won’t be able to login into your FAFSA account.
How To Check?
- Try logging into the FAFSA using your Social Security number – the “Enter the Student’s Information” option on the right.
- If that works, the problem is likely your FSA ID.
- Log in to the FSA ID website and click “Edit My FSA ID.”
- Check under “Status” if the Social Security Administration Status says “Matched.”
- If not, click “Edit My FSA ID” and update your Social Security number.
- Click “Continue” to send your updated info for verification. Once confirmed, you can use your FSA ID to log in.
If you still cannot login into your FAFSA account. Reach out to The Federal Student Aid helpdesk. Just call 1-800-557-7394 and they’ll guide you through the entire process.
