Two apartment buildings in north Phoenix were destroyed by fire, leaving five individuals without a place to live.
Firefighters were called to a structure fire near 7th Street and Dunlap Avenue just before 5:30 a.m.
The fire was emanating from a first-floor apartment in a three-story building when the firefighters arrived. The fire was promptly reported as a first alarm due to its rapid spread.
While saving lives inside the apartments, firefighters battled the fire with hose lines. Neither firefighters nor residents were hurt.
The Red Cross and the Community Assistance Program provided the tenants with necessary assistance.
The purpose of the investigation is to find out what started the fire.
