Two men have been arrested following a police chase involving a stolen vehicle in Memphis on Friday, October 11. The suspects, identified as Timothy Woods and Roderic Crymes, were arrested after leading officers on a pursuit that ended in their capture.
The incident began around 1:30 p.m. when Memphis police spotted a 2017 white Nissan Maxima near North Germantown Parkway and I-40. The vehicle had been connected to a burglary earlier that day at a Kohl’s store on Germantown Parkway. The suspects were believed to have broken into a blue pickup truck in the area.
When officers attempted to stop the Nissan, the driver refused to pull over, leading to a chase. The vehicle was eventually located at the Red Roof Inn on Shelby Oaks Drive, where Woods and Crymes fled on foot. While Crymes was quickly apprehended, Woods managed to hide in nearby woods, avoiding capture for a brief time.
In a bold attempt to escape, Woods later commandeered an unattended 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 belonging to an officer. He drove off, leading police on another pursuit. During the chase, Woods allegedly attempted to run over an officer deploying stop sticks. He was eventually stopped on Primacy Parkway, where he attempted to enter a black Tahoe driven by a third individual, Ladreylus Patterson.
Woods, Patterson, and Crymes were all taken into custody. The Nissan Maxima had been reported stolen on October 8 from the University of Memphis South Garage.
Woods faces multiple charges, including theft of property, aggravated assault, evading arrest, burglary, and possession of a controlled substance. His bond is set at $200,000. Crymes, whose charges are yet to be fully detailed, is being held on a bond of $1,175,000. Both suspects are expected to appear in court on October 15.
