A Milford early-morning wreck on Friday seriously injured a motorcyclist reported by the Ohio State Highway Patrol. This led to an airlift to the hospital. A crash happened just after midnight at about 12:42 a.m. on Mount Zion Road near Hoffman Road.
According to reports, the motorcycle lost control at the curve, went off the road, overturned and crashed into a ditch and continued onto a utility pole, seriously injuring the rider. Emergency services responded rapidly and airlifted the rider from the scene to UC Medical Center via Air Care.
It has been said that some state troopers have reported that the rider was not wearing a helmet when he crashed, which could have been the reason for his seriousness of injury. The cause of the crash is as yet unknown, but it is also still not known what made the rider lose control of his motorcycle.
The Batavia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate this incident to further define the circumstances leading up to the crash-speed, road conditions, and mechanical failure. Troopers also caution and remind motorcyclists to wear helmets for their safety and protection.
It is such an important reminder about the risks biking poses, especially without precautions in place. The Ohio State Highway Patrol requests all bikers to be vigilant, equipped with protection and not overextend themselves to avoid such a tragedy on the road.
