Demonstration School status places Woodard in the top 2% of the 5,400 AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) schools nationally and world-wide. Woodard is the only school so recognized in Yuma County.
Judy Walker, a visitation team lead and Project Manager for AVID Schoolwide, said of Woodard: “The visiting team observed rigorous instruction and high levels of student engagement in all classrooms. The school receives tremendous support from the district office, allowing for a schoolwide implementation of AVID with strong fidelity.”
AVID is a kindergarten through postsecondary system that challenges all students to become confident scholars, fully prepared for successful completion of a four-year college program.
