For years, Gilbert teen Aubrey Hancock toted around a notebook. In it, she wrote poems, stories and random thoughts. After hearing many times over, “Why don’t you publish these,” Aubrey decided to do just that.
With the help of Amazon, she designed a cover and put her collection of writings out there for anyone to purchase.
Her book, “Short Stories and Similar Sayings for Solicitous Slackers: A Collection of Short Stories and Inspirational Poems” explores high school with a bit of wit and humor, as well as reflection, she said.
“It’s a good way to get my feelings out there,” Aubrey said. “I realized my stories are not the typical ones a teen would write. They’re about self-worth and what people need to inspire them. Plus, it’s my senior year; I needed to do something big.”
