Vail School District student Clarissa Werner was honored Wednesday for her winning economic essay submitted in the Arizona Council on Economic Education’s InvestWrite essay competition that is part of its Stock Market Game program.
Clarissa is a sixth grader at Desert Sky Middle School. She wrote the essay as a fifth grader in the gifted class at Desert Willow Elementary School which participates each year in the Stock Market Game.

Mark Sammons from the University of Arizona Department of Economics presented Clarissa with a $100 prize.
Wells Fargo Advisors‘ Burt Derman, a mentor for students during the Stock Market Game for the past five years, was there to honor Clarissa as well.
