Take the time to honor the legacy left by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by getting out and giving back!

The MLK Weekend of Service empowers individuals, strengthens communities, bridges barriers, creates solutions to social problems, and moves us closer to Dr. King’s vision of a “Beloved Community.”

Project Vitamin C: Saturday, January 18th | Glendale, AZ | 9 am-12 pm

Join us for one of the first picks of the citrus season at Sahuaro Ranch park as part of Martin Luther King, Jr. Weekend of Service. Volunteers are needed to help pick citrus from trees at Saguaro Ranch park. Fruit will be collected in large bins and donated to local food banks, to help feed the community.

Volunteers will pick fruit from trees manually or using fruit gleaners and haul to designated areas. Long sleeved shirts, long pants, closed-toed shoes, and clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty are recommended. 

Fun and family friendly, minimum age 8. Individuals under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Volunteer’s ages 16 & 17 who wish to participate without a parent/guardian must bring a signed Youth Waiver Form with them to the project.

A limited number of “fruit pickers/gleaners” are available, if you have one please bring it with you. Be sure to mark your name and phone number on any supplies you bring to the project. Thank you for participating and we look forward to seeing you at the project!

Operation MLK Veteran House Painting: Monday January 20th | Phoenix, AZ | 8 am-12 pm 

Join us as for our 2020 MLK Weekend of Service. Volunteers are needed to help paint the home of Eli Flores. Eli is an 85 year old post Korean War veteran who served his country proudly in the United States Army. Help us as we bring back a new shine to the neighborhood. No experience is necessary; all training, tools and materials will be provided that day.

The minimum age to volunteer with a parent or guardian is 16 years old. Volunteers who are 16 & 17 coming without a parent or guardian need to bring a signed Youth Waiver Form.

Volunteers should wear clothes that can get paint on them and closed-toe shoes. We look forward to seeing you at the project!

The Corporation for National and Community Service has released their 2018 Volunteering in America report. 30% of Arizonans volunteered, ranking Arizona 34th among the states.

Phoenix-Mesa-Scottsdale ranked 21st among cities with 32.3% of residents volunteering!

Arizonans not only gave their time, 52% of residents donated $25 or more to charity.
