San Luis High School to display Cesar Chavez mural at art festival

The art students of San Luis High School have recently completed a large mosaic mural of labor leader and Latino icon Cesar Chavez.

Students from several art classes were given sections of the mural to complete. After each individual’s students work was done the mosaics were put together to depict Chavez.

Art student Karen Ruiz said of the project, “Cesar Chavez is a part of our Mexican heritage and was an amazing leader.”

The completed mural will be on display at the Yuma Art Center in Downtown Yuma October 25th through November 8th when it will be displayed at the 21st Annual Children’s Festival of the Arts.

Afterward, it will be displayed near the front entrance of the San Luis High School Auditorium.
