Rural and remote schools: Advancing equity through deeper learning

Rural and remote schools serve students in non-urban areas with less than 50,000 residents.

While 64% of Arizona’s students reside in Maricopa County, about 75% of all school districts are outside that county.

In Arizona, 67 percent of rural students are from low-income families and 59 percent of rural students are minorities.
