The Queen Creek Unified School District was one of 14 schools and organizations to receive part of an Arizona Commission of the Arts award worth more than $30,000.
The annual ACA’s Arts Learning Grants program awarded $1,050 of the funds Dec. 12, according to a press release. The grant program provides funds for projects that support lifelong learning in, through or about the arts.
The district will use the grant money to bring in an expert to teach Queen Creek High School ceramics students about pottery glazing, said Tiffannie Sechrist, career technical education director for QCHS.
Applications for the grants are reviewed by governor-appointed commissioners. Funding recommendations are made by panels comprised of volunteer experts and experienced practitioners from around the state, according to a press release.
Grants are funded by the State of Arizona and via funding provided by the National Endowment for the Arts to the State of Arizona. For more information, call 602-771-6502 or e-mail email@example.com.
