PVSchools new administrator assignments for the school year

The PVSchools Governing Board have named 15 new principal and four assistant principal assignments for the 2016-17 school year.

Out of the 15 principals, eight were either assistant principals or teachers on assignment/administrative interns in PVSchools during the 2015-16 school year.

PVSchools would like to introduce our new principals and assistant principals.

 

New Principals

Kristi Williams will be the interim principal at Arrowhead Elementary School. She was most recently the teacher on assignment/administrative intern at Palomino Primary School. Ms. Williams began her teaching career in 1994 in the Washington Elementary School District. She joined the PVSchools family in 1998 as a teacher. Other positions she has held in the district include reading specialist, curriculum and assessment specialist, intervention specialist and summer school site coordinator. Ms. Williams earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Arizona State University (ASU), a Master of Arts degree in Educational Leadership and an Administrative Certificate from Northern Arizona University (NAU).


Ann Furnish
 will be the interim principal at Copper Canyon Elementary School. For the 2015-16 school year, she was the assistant principal at Desert Shadows Middle School. During her time at PVSchools, she has held the following positions: administrative intern, Title I School improvement specialist, curriculum mapper, assessment project facilitator and teacher. Ms. Furnish has also worked in the Cave Creek Unified School District and Deer Valley Unified School District. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education from ASU and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and a Reading Specialist Endorsement from NAU.


Stacey Orest
 was named the new principal at Desert Cove Elementary School. She was previously the assistant principal at Sunrise Middle School. Ms. Orest joined the PVSchools family in 1999.  During her tenure with the district, she has served as a teacher, library media specialist, assistant principal for PVOnline summer school and administrative intern. Ms. Orest earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from ASU, a Master of Education degree in Educational Technology from NAU and a Master of Arts degree in Educational Leadership from ASU.


Derek Hummert 
was named the new principal at Desert Shadows Middle School. He was previously the principal at Desert Springs Preparatory Elementary School. Mr. Hummert has worked in the Scottsdale Unified School District, Champaign Unit 4 School District in Champaign, Ill., University of Illinois and Nawate Kita Junior High School in Higashiosaka, Japan. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of Iowa and a Master of Education in Educational Organization and Leadership from the University of Illinois.


Raquel Solano Scott
 will be the interim principal at Desert Springs Preparatory Elementary School. She was previously the teacher on assignment/administrative intern at Cactus View Elementary and Indian Bend Elementary School. Ms. Solano Scott joined the PVSchools family in 2007 and has held the following positions: instructional coach, No Child Left Behind (NCLB) summer school site facilitator and teacher. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from ASU, a Master of Arts degree in Education, Human Resources from NAU and Master of Arts in Education, Educational Leadership/Principal K-12 from NAU.


Elizabeth Schrey
 was named the new principal at Echo Mountain Intermediate School. For the previous two school years, she served as teacher on assignment/administrative intern at Eagle Ridge Elementary School. Ms. Schrey taught in PVSchools from 2005-2010 and was the NCLB summer school site coordinator in 2010. From 2010-2012, she was an instructional coach/mentor at the Union Elementary School District. Ms. Schrey returned to PVSchools in 2012 and worked as a mentor teacher and then an administrative intern. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Justice Studies, a PostBAC Certification in Elementary Education and a Master of Arts degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from ASU. She is currently working on her Doctorate degree.


Kyle Shappee
 will be the new principal at Explorer Middle School. He was previously the principal at Copper Canyon Elementary School. Mr. Shappee joined the PVSchools family in 1994 and has held the following positions: teacher on assignment/Title I Coordinator, assistant principal and teacher. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix, Master of Education degree in Elementary Education from ASU and a Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership with Distinction/Graduate Certificate of Principal from NAU.


Teresa Simmons
 was named the new principal at Fireside Elementary School. She was previously the principal at Arrowhead Elementary School. Ms. Simmons joined the PVSchools family in 1996 as a teacher and also worked as a teacher on assignment prior to being named principal in 2009. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary/Special Education from ASU, a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from NAU and completed a Principal Administrative Internship Program from the University of Phoenix.


Michelle Pavlik 
was named the new principal at Grayhawk Elementary School. She previously served as the teacher on assignment/administrative intern at Sonoran Sky Elementary School. She joined the PVSchools family during the 1994-1995 school year as a teacher. Besides being a teacher in PVSchools, she also taught in the Madison School District. Other positions that Ms. Pavlik has held in the district include instructional coach and summer school coordinator. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Ottawa University and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from NAU.


Jamie Roberson
 will be the new principal at Larkspur Elementary School. She was previously the principal at Liberty Elementary School. Ms. Roberson joined the PVSchools family in 1997. During her time with the district, she has worked has held the following positions: teacher on assignment, instructional coach, administrative intern and teacher. Ms. Roberson earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from ASU and her Master of Arts degree in Elementary Education from NAU.


Darlene Baumgartner
 was named principal at Liberty Elementary School. She was previously the teacher on assignment/administrative intern at Whispering Wind Academy and Wildfire Elementary School. She joined the PVSchools family in 2003 as a teacher and also has been a mentor teacher. Ms. Baumgartner earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from NAU, a Master of Arts degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction from ASU and a Master of Arts degree in Educational Administration and Supervision (Principalship) from ASU.


Chad Lanese
 was named the new principal at Pinnacle High School. Since 2010, he has been the principal at Desert Cove Elementary School. He began his teaching career in 1998 in the Glendale Elementary School District. He has also worked for Peoria Unified School District. Mr. Lanese earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from the University of Arizona (UA) and a Master of Arts degree in Bilingual Education from ASU. He is currently working toward a Doctorate degree.

Diana Cameron was named principal at Sandpiper Elementary School. During the 2015-16 school year, she served as the interim principal of the school. Ms. Cameron started her career in 1980 as a resource teacher in Lexington, Neb. Throughout her career, she has taught at Lexington Jr. High School, Kachina Country Day School, Academy of Complete Literacy and PVSchools. She was the owner of Magic Moments Preschool and Progressive Concrete Works and was the director of children’s ministry for the Desert Springs Bible Church. Ms. Cameron earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education/Special Education from the University of Nebraska and a Master of Arts degree in Educational Leadership from NAU.

Diane Silvestri was appointed as the new principal at Sweetwater Community School. Since 2009, she has been the director of Human Resources – Education Support Professionals. Ms. Silvestri joined the PVSchools family in 2004 as a principal. Prior to that, she worked for the Scottsdale Unified School District. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from ASU and a Master of Arts degree in Educational Leadership from Chapman University.

Erin Vranesh was named the new principal at Wildfire Elementary School. She was previously the teacher on assignment/administrative intern at Fireside Elementary School. During her career, she held teaching positions in PVSchools and the Peoria Unified School District. Mrs. Vranesh earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and a Master of Arts degree in Education Leadership from NAU.

New Assistant Principals
Eric Rosenberg
 will be the interim assistant principal at Desert Shadows Middle School. He joined the PVSchools family in 2006 as a teacher. Mr. Rosenberg earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism & Marketing from the University of Maryland, a Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Education from the University of Phoenix and a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership from NAU. 

Troy Fox was named as the new assistant principal at Explorer Middle School. He is the former attendance dean at Pinnacle High School. He began teaching in 2010 and has taught at the Vector Prep & Arts Academy, Scottsdale Unified School District, PVSchools and the Wake County Public School System. Prior to teaching, Mr. Fox served as a patrol officer and juvenile crimes detective for the Grand Rapids Police Department. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Aquinas College and a Master of Science degree from Purdue University.


Mark Smith
 will be the new assistant principal at Shadow Mountain High School. He was previously the teacher on assignment/administrative Iintern at Pinnacle High School. Mr. Smith joined the PVSchools family in 2006 as a teacher. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education and a Master of Arts degree in Educational Leadership from NAU.

Katrina Dieck was named the new assistant principal at Shea Middle School. Besides teaching in PVschools, she has worked for the Oakland County Schools, Huron Valley Schools, Novi Community Schools and Fowler Elementary School District. Ms. Dieck earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from NAU, a Master of Arts degree in Education Studies from Marygrove College and an Endorsement in Educational Leadership from the Western Governor’s University
