On September 23, 2017, Tim Ramsey, seventh grade writing teacher at Westwind Elementary, was honored by the Arizona English Teachers Association. Tim entered the association’s annual Teachers as Writers Contest submitting works for fiction, nonfiction and poetry. He won first place honors in all three categories. This was the first time in the association’s history that one person has accomplished this feat.
Mr. Ramsey has received recognition for his writing by the AETA five times previously. In addition, he has been published five times by the editors of the popular Chicken Soup for the Soul series. A sixth publication will appear in the October release, Chicken Soup for the Soul: Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone. The book is being released on Tuesday, October 31. Tim will be signing copies of this and the other five books containing his stories at Barnes and Noble Booksellers located at 1446 N. Litchfield Rd., Goodyear, AZ 85395 on Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 1-3 p.m. The event is free of charge and open to the public.
Tim is the author of the book, The Hugs on My Shirt. He currently is a contributor to the EdWords blog for the BAM Radio Network, an organization dedicated to addressing a whole child philosophy for educating our children. He has been an educator for 35 years, most of which has been spent in the Pendergast District.
