The draft standards available for review will be used to revise Arizona’s current standards for dance, media arts, music, theatre, and visual arts.
“I am excited to offer this opportunity for Arizona parents and teachers to share their thoughts and help improve these standards,” said Diane Douglas, Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction. “The arts are a very important part of every child’s education and my staff will ensure their feedback is incorporated into the final versions of the drafts.”
To encourage as many people as possible to contribute, the Department has established many methods by which feedback may be submitted. Details about these methods and copies of the draft standards are available at http://www.azed.gov/2015-arts-standards-review/.
In addition to soliciting feedback via an online survey, email, U.S. mail, and fax, the Department will also hold three statewide public webinars and four public meetings, two in Phoenix and one each in Flagstaff and Tucson.
These virtual and in-person events will give interested parties an opportunity to share thoughts with Department staff and the rest of the audience. Comments from all sessions will be recorded.
