Parents As Teachers program helps parents get creative and teach their kids how to bake!

Our Partners as Teachers program (PAT) helps parents gain positive parenting skills and increase their children’s readiness for school. One way they do this is by hosting group connections each quarter. The PAT program was able to host three group connections this quarter with 85 families in attendance.
For one of the group connections this quarter, the program assembled baking kits for the families. The kits included the needed supplies for the activity and staff was able to drop off a kit to each family prior to the connection group. The families were then ready to participate in the group connection via Zoom. The overall response from families was very positive! The kids really enjoyed the interactive activities they were able to do with the whole family. Aside from providing the pancake kit, the PAT program read “If You Give a Pig a Pancake” after baking to tie it all together. One of the biggest take a ways from the group was staff witnessing the parents just letting the kids have fun by mixing, pouring and of course eating. It was messy but the parents seem to have just as much fun as their kids! We are thankful that during this pandemic Child & Family Resources is still able to provide essential services to children and families throughout the state of Arizona.
