National Football Foundation recognizes Williams Field players

Williams Field High School senior Luke Petruzzi is one of 11 players being honored by the Valley of the Sun National Football Foundation Chapter as a “First Team” Scholar-Athlete.

Senior Ryne Furhmark is also being recognized by the National Football Foundation’s local chapter as a “Top 60” Football Scholar Athlete, with a “Coach’s Scholar Athlete Honorable Mention” award.

The National Football Foundation High School Scholar Athlete Award is given to students who demonstrate academic achievement, athletic accomplishments and community leadership.

Past college National Football Foundation Scholar Athletes include Super Bowl bound Payton Manning, along with NFL quarterbacks Steve Young (BYU), Doug Flutie (Boston College) and Tim Tebow (Florida).

“We are absolutely thrilled for Luke, Ryne, Coach Campbell and the Williams Field Varsity Football program that their efforts and hard work have been recognized at the state level,” said Principal Terri Wattawa.
